Someone who looks amazing and cute wearing short skirts as often depicted in high school movies or books? You may agree to disagree but in a tiny corner of our hearts we know that once upon a time we did believe cheer-leading associated with that. Looking glam, being popular, Lana's character portrayed beautifully by Cabot. In real- life I've come to realize even though many may look like the perfect 'cheerleaders' so as to say, you'll hardly find any. There may be an occasional Phil Dunphy who tries to cheer his family members when he sees them in a grumpy state or looking forlorn but that's it. How many of us can actually call ourselves that? Its true that we have different moods, experience a turmoil of emotions everyday, every minute but how many of us can actually keep this away from the way we talk to others or be with others? How many of us are able to spare that 10 minutes to just sit with someone and hear them out because today patience is running low and people could do with some catharsis. I guess in the midst of our daily routines, hectic schedules, stress of exams and what not we're close to forgetting to what humanists call 'unconditional positive regard'. We are getting so sucked up in our own selves that we ignore the things which make our essence. Empathy, patience, sensitivity are merely becoming words I read in my psychology texts. I know we can never be perfect or someone people can find nothing wrong with, but for our own selves we can step out of our own rooms and be a cheerleader. Not raising false hopes but rather inculcating a cycle of deep sharing and hope. Think for yourselves, won't you like someone to hear you out, try to understand you, talk to you, ask you about your day or just let you ramble about your favorite topics without looking down at their mobiles or staring at a place behind your head? We all need that someone and that something which will make us feel more relaxed as people, more comforted so to say. And there's no better person that you, yourself. Be there for other people and hopefully someday people are going to be there for you too and probably you can together jam to the Friends theme song together. Maybe its psychology or it rubbing off on me toh abhi ke liye itna hi...
